Dmitri Sergejewitsch Juschkewitsch ( Russian Дмитрий Сергеевич Юшкевич ; born November 19, 1971 in Cherepovets ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who has played in the National Hockey League for the Philadelphia Flyers , Toronto Maple Leafs , Florida Panthers and Los Angeles Kings was active. Yuschkewitsch has been working as an ice hockey coach since the end of his career .
Career
At the beginning of his career, Yushkevich played with Torpedo Yaroslavl and HK Dynamo Moscow . In the 1991 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the sixth round in 122nd place by the Philadelphia Flyers . In 1992 he moved to the Flyers in the National Hockey League . Other stations in his career in the NHL were the Toronto Maple Leafs , Florida Panthers and Los Angeles Kings . For the 2003/04 season he moved back to Russia and played for his old club Torpedo Yaroslavl, he spent the next season in his hometown at Severstal Tscherepowez , but in 2005/06 he moved on to HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk . The 2006/07 season he was under contract with SKA Saint Petersburg .
Between November 2009 and April 2010 he was under contract with Oulun Kärpät from the SM-liiga before ending his career.
International
On November 2, 1990 he made his debut for the team of the Soviet national ice hockey team . After the collapse of the Soviet Union , he was first a member of the United Team and then the Russian national ice hockey team . His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1992 Winter Olympics and a silver medal in 1998 . In 1992 he was named an Honored Master of Sport .
As a trainer
Yuschkewitsch has been working as an ice hockey coach since the end of his career and was initially assistant coach of Andrei Tarassenko at HK Sibir Novosibirsk from 2010 . After poor performance at the beginning of the 2011/12 season, Tarassenko was dismissed and Yushkevich was promoted to head coach in December 2011.
At the 2012 World Cup , he looked after the Russian national team as an assistant coach and won the gold medal. He then left HK Sibir and became Tom Rowe's assistant coach at Lokomotive Yaroslavl .
From 2014 Juschkewitsch was head coach at HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk and received a three-year contract from this before he was dismissed at the end of January 2015 after a series of defeats along with his assistants.
From May 2015 Juschkewitsch was initially an assistant trainer at Severstal Tscherepowez . After Václav Sýkora was fired in October of the same year, he was promoted to head coach.
Juschkewitsch has been an assistant coach at HK CSKA Moscow since the 2017/18 season .
