Yevgeny Gennadjewitsch Koreschkow ( Russian Евгений Геннадьевич Корешков ; born March 11, 1970 in Ust-Kamenogorsk , Kazakh SSR ) is a former Kazakh ice hockey player and current coach . His brothers Alexander and Igor were also professional ice hockey players.
Career
Yevgeny Koreschkow, from the youth division of Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk, began his career in the men's division in 1988 with Buran Voronezh in the second Soviet division. He spent the 1991/92 season at HK Lada Tolyatti . For the 1992/93 season he was obliged by his Kazakh parent club Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk. In 1994 he moved with his brother Alexander to HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , where he played until 2004. Further stations in the 2004/05 season were HK Sibir Novosibirsk , Severstal Tscherepowez and HK Metschel Tscheljabinsk . The 2005/06 season he played again in Ust-Kamenogorsk. In the 2006/07 season he was under contract with HC Martigny in Switzerland , where he ended his active career in 2007.
International
In 1993 and 1994 , when he was the tournament's top scorer, he took part in the C-World Championship with the Kazakh selection . In 1998 , 2004 , 2005 and 2006 he played in the top division, while he was on the ice in Division I in 2003 and 2007 after the Kazakhs had been relegated in the meantime .
In 1998 Yevgeny Koreschkow took part with Kazakhstan at the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano and scored two goals and two assists in seven games. After successfully qualifying with his team, Koreschkow played at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , scoring five goals and two assists in five games, making him the seventh-best scorer of the Olympic tournament.
As a trainer
As head coach Koreschkow was from 2009 at Stalnyje Lissy Magnitogorsk from the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja League on the gang, with which he won the Russian junior championship in the 2009/10 season . From 2013 to 2015 Koreschkow was assistant coach at HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , rather he moved to Barys Astana for the 2015/16 season and was initially assistant coach there. At the end of September 2015, he was appointed interim head coach and, after Andrei Nazarov returned, he stepped back as head coach in the second tier.
From August 2017, Koreschkow was again the head coach of Barys before he was fired in December 2017.
At the U20 Junior World Championships in 2011 , the Kazakh supported the Russian selection under Valery Bragin as assistant coach , which secured the world title. As assistant coach of Russia's U20 team, which he also coached at the 2012 and 2013 U20 World Junior Championships , he won the bronze medal at the 2013 tournament.
