Maxim Valerjewitsch Schalunow ( Russian Максим Валерьевич Шалунов , English Maxim Shalunov ; born January 31, 1993 in Chelyabinsk ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK CSKA Moscow from the KHL since May 2017 and plays in the position of right winger .
Career
Maxim Shalunov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HK Traktor Chelyabinsk . In the 2010/11 season he made his debut in the KHL . The winger was selected in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft as the 109th player of the Chicago Blackhawks from the National Hockey League . In the 2013/14 season , Schalunow was active for the Rockford IceHogs in the American Hockey League . In July 2014, the winger was signed by HK Sibir Novosibirsk and developed into a top performer there. In the 2016/17 season he was top scorer in Sibir together with Sergei Schumakow and was therefore nominated for the KHL All-Star Game 2017 .
In May 2017 he was handed over to HK CSKA Moscow together with Shumakov and Konstantin Okulow (and thus the three top scorers of the team) , while Sibir Novosibirsk received the player Alexander Sharov and financial compensation in return.
International
Schalunow represented his native Russia for the first time at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2010 in the Canadian province of Ontario . The Russians lost in the bronze medal game against Sweden and finished the tournament in fourth place. In addition, Schalunow took part in the junior division in the U18 Junior World Championship 2010 , the U18 Junior World Championship 2011 and the U20 Junior World Championship 2013 .
