Nikita Danilovich Nesterov ( Russian: Никита Данилович Нестеров ; English transcription: Nikita Danilovich Nesterov ; born March 28, 1993 in Chelyabinsk ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK CSKA Moscow in the Continental Hockey League since July 2017 .
Career
Nikita Nesterow began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HK Traktor Chelyabinsk . For his junior team Belje Medwedi he made his debut in the 2009/10 season in the newly founded multinational youth league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga , in which he was mostly active until 2012. In the 2011/12 season he also made his debut for the professional team of Traktor Chelyabinsk in the Continental Hockey League (KHL) and was part of the club's KHL squad at the beginning of the following season.
In April 2013 Nesterow received a three-year NHL entry contract from the management of Tampa Bay Lightning . In late summer, he participated in the training camp of the NHL franchise and was in September to the Syracuse Crunch , the farm team in the American Hockey League sent.
After almost three and a half seasons in the organization of the Lightning, Nesterow was handed over to the Canadiens de Montréal in January 2017 , who in return sent Jonathan Racine and a six- round vote for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft to Tampa. After the end of the 2016/17 season, the Canadiens did not extend his expiring contract, so Nesterow returned to his Russian homeland after four years in North America. There he signed a three-year contract with HK CSKA Moscow , which had recently acquired the KHL rights to him from HK tractor Chelyabinsk.
International
For Russia , Nesterow took part in the U18 Junior World Championships in 2010 and 2011 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2012 . At the U18 World Cup 2011 he and his team won the bronze medal, at the U20 World Cup 2012 the silver medal.
In the senior sector, he made his debut for Russia at the World Cup of Hockey 2016 and finished fourth with the team. He then became Olympic champion with the Sbornaja under a neutral flag at the 2018 Winter Games.
