Mat Robinson (born June 20, 1986 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK CSKA Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League since July 2017 .

Career

Robinson began his career in the 2003/04 season with the Calgary Royals in the Canadian Junior League Alberta Junior Hockey League . Between 2005 and 2009 he played for the university team of the University of Alaska Anchorage in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association , which is part of the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . After a brief engagement with the Las Vegas Wranglers , the Canadian completed the 2009/10 season mostly with the Elmira Jackals in the East Coast Hockey League , but was also on the ice in five appearances for the Binghamton Senators in the American Hockey League .

In the summer of 2010, Robinson decided to move to Europe and signed a contract with the Sparta Warriors in the Norwegian GET league . After the defender won the championship there and played his professional season with 14 goals and 29 assists, he was committed to the 2011/12 season by Timrå IK from the Swedish Elitserien . In the summer of 2013, the right-handed player moved to the Latvian club Dinamo Riga in the Continental Hockey League , before joining league rivals HK Dynamo Moscow for the 2014/15 season.

As part of the 2018 Winter Olympics , Robinson made his debut for the Canadian national team and won the bronze medal with the team that competed without NHL players.
