Morynzi ( Ukrainian Моринці ; Russian Моринцы Morinzy ) is a village in the center of Ukraine in the Cherkasy Oblast with about 2100 inhabitants (2006).
The village, first mentioned in writing in the middle of the 17th century, is the birthplace of the Ukrainian national poet Taras Shevchenko .
Moryntsi is the administrative center of the eponymous district municipality , nor the village to the Hnylez ( Гнилець ⊙ ) belongs with about 200 inhabitants.
The village is located in the north of Zvenyhorodka district on the P-64 regional road . Zvenyhorodka district center is 34 km south, Cherkassy oblast center about 100 km east of the village. The distance to the northeast lying Kaniw , where the Taras Shevchenko tomb is located, is about 100 km.
