Matt Robinson

Matthew Thomas "Matt" Robinson, Jr. (born January 1, 1937 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , USA ; † August 5, 2002 in Los Angeles , California, USA) was an American actor, producer and screenwriter.

Career

In 1962 Robinson wrote the script for the film Rained All Night , which is about a slave riot. In the following years he wrote other scripts for the TV station WCAU-TV , including for Opportunity in Philadelphia .

From 1969 to 1972, Robinson played the role of Gordon in Sesame Street . He also created the character Roosevelt Franklin , to whom he also lent his voice. Even after giving up the role of Gordon , Robinson continued to write scripts for skits with the character. His daughter Holly Robinson Peete also appeared on the series. When years later a surname for Gordon , who was now played by Roscoe Orman , was searched, the surname Robinson was chosen .

After his time on Sesame Street , Robinson wrote again for films and for some episodes of the Bill Cosby Show , for which he also acted as a producer.

In 1982 Robinson was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease . He succumbed to the disease in 2002.
