Roscoe H. Orman (born June 11, 1944 in New York City , New York , USA ) is an American actor and author .

Career

In 1962, Orman first appeared in the theater in the play If We Grew Up . Numerous other stage appearances followed in various theaters. In 1973 Orman made his film debut in the film Willie Dynamite , in which he played the title character. In 1974 Orman took on the role of Gordon Robinson in the children's show Sesame Street , which he played until 2016. He was the third actor after Matt Robinson and Hal Miller to impersonate the role. Orman has also appeared in several Sesame Street films, including Bibo's Adventurous Escape and Elmo in Grummelland . Orman's son Miles Orman also worked on Sesame Street as Gordon's son Miles Robinson . Orman has also appeared in numerous series, including Kojak - Einsatz in Manhattan , Law & Order and Sex and the City . Orman's memoir was published in 2006 under the title Sesame Street Dad: Evolution of An Actor . In 2007 his children's book Ricky and Mobo was published .
