Willie Dynamite is a 1974 American film starring Roscoe Orman , Diana Sands , Thalmus Rasulala, and Joyce Walker, and was released by Universal Pictures . The film is about the New York pimp Willie Dynamite.

action

At the beginning of the story, the pimp Willie Dynamite drives his purple Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado on the streets of Midtown Manhattan and finds himself in a hotel to take payments from his employees. Willie Dynamite attracts attention with flashy clothing; the style is often shown in films of the blaxploitation genre . A total of seven women work for him, his newest colleague named Pashen hands over the money to him last. Willie Dynamite is indignant about the insufficient amount and expresses this impressively. He compares his trade with the production lines of American automobile manufacturers. His strategic goal is to become the market leader among the pimps in New York.

At a meeting of pimps, which Willie Dynamite also attends, current pimp leader Bell points out that the police are currently trying to reduce prostitution activities. For this reason, Bell proposes a division of territory and exclusive use of the market for the people present. The proposal is generally welcomed, but Willie Dynamite cannot accept it. The reason for his negative attitude is that he sees his women as superior. Therefore, he prefers access to the entire market and not just to an assigned area.

Shortly after the meeting, his colleague Pashen was arrested. The social worker Cora has set herself the goal of persuading the prostitutes from Willie Dynamite to give up their work and take up alternative employment. Cora seeks out Pashen in custody and argues in this direction, suggesting that Pashen could work as a photo model, which is immediately rejected. Willie Dynamite pays bail on Pashen's court order; she does not have to return to custody. Cora visits the prostitutes at Willie Dynamite's apartment and explains that the women are being paid inappropriately financially by the pimp. Pashen is arrested again and Cora intervenes again. On this occasion Cora explains that she was once a prostitute herself. After Pashen was able to leave the prison again after a short time, she now works as a photo model and announces this to Willie Dynamite. Cora also tries to find bank records in the pimp's apartment, which is unsuccessful.

Willie Dynamite's prostitute Honey dies in a dispute with competing vendors. His employees are now being arrested, and his bank accounts are being frozen by the authorities. He can no longer afford the deposits for his employees. Pashen's face is cut up in prison. The pimp Bell seeks out Willie Dynamite and tries to get him out of business. Willie Dynamite prevails in the argument. He is arrested by two police officers for possession of drugs. Due to legal deficiencies in the preservation of evidence, Willie Dynamite has to be released. At the end of the film, he walks the streets of New York as a free man.
