The castle Rothenkirchen is the residue of a castle in Rothenkirchen, a district of the market town of Pressig in the district of Kronach in Bavaria .

The castle was built in the 12th century around 1187 by the Bamberg bishop Otto II . The Lords of Haßlach sold their property to Konrad von Würtzburg in the middle of the 14th century. In 1525, in the course of the Peasants' War, the three chambers of the complex were damaged. In 1538 extensions and alterations took place. Another, more severe destruction of the castle occurred in 1633 during the Thirty Years War . In 1667 Hans Veit von Würtzburg sold the fortress to the Bamberg Monastery.

Today the gatehouse of the castle is still preserved.
