Hain Castle in Küps-Hain

The Castle Grove is located in the settlement grove , a part of the market Küps in Upper Franconian district of Kronach in Bavaria .

Geographical location

Hain lies in the extensive valley landscape of the central Rodach . The location of the place on this river, which served as a transport route in the Middle Ages , favored the construction of a total of ten aristocratic residences in the area of the Küps market, to which Hain belongs. Nine of the ten properties still exist, some of which have been heavily modified or as ruins or ground memorials .

Schloss Hain is located in the east of the settlement in the street Zum Schloss.

history

The aristocratic seat in Hain was first mentioned in 1330 as the property of Baron Heinrich von Redwitz . In 1378 the property came under the fief of Burgrave Friedrich V of Nuremberg for a short time . Ulrich I von Künsberg acquired the residence in 1395, which remained in the family's possession until the 19th century. In the 15th to 16th centuries, the residence was expanded to include a manor and in 1668 August Adolf von Künsberg had a chapel built on the site, in which he was buried after his death in 1681. His son Georg Adam von Künsberg inherited the property and had it expanded into a small castle in 1711. Georg Adam died only two years later. His brother Johann Christoph took over the castle and estate until his death in 1732.

It was not until six years after Johann Christoph's death that Georg Willhelm von Künsberg received Hain Castle through an inheritance. He died in 1765. One of his sons, then already Hereditary Marshal of the Burgrave of Nuremberg, became the new owner of Hain Castle. In 1774 he had the building rebuilt from scratch in the Baroque style. The castle, which is now privately owned, is located in a small park and, unlike the adjoining manor, is not open to visitors.
