Levente Elekes (born March 29, 1972 in Miercurea Ciuc , Harghita district ) is a Romanian ice hockey player and coach who has been under contract as a player- coach at SC Miercurea Ciuc in the Romanian ice hockey league since 2011 .

Career

Levente Elekes began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown with SC Miercurea Ciuc , for whose professional team he was active in the Romanian ice hockey league from 1993 to 2009 and also in the Hungarian ice hockey league from 2006 to 2008 . During this time, the attacker and his team won the national championship title six times (1997, 2000, 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2009) and five times the national cup competition (1995, 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2007). In addition, Elekes won the Pannonian League in 2004 with Miercurea Ciuc . He himself was the top scorer in the Romanian league in 1995 and 1999. Only at the beginning of the 1999/00 season did the left shooter, who otherwise remained loyal to his home club, play for their league rivals HC Dinamo Bucharest . In the 2008/09 season he took part with SC Miercurea Ciuc in the newly founded MOL League , in which he scored 20 scorer points, including nine goals, in 34 games.

For the 2009/10 season , Elekes moved within the MOL League to SCM 68 Fenestela Brașov , where he was able to increase to 29 scorer points, including 19 goals, in 23 games. In the 2010/11 season he played in the Romanian ice hockey league for HC Dunărea Galați . For the 2011/12 season he returned to his home club SC Miercurea Ciuc, where he became a player-coach for the second team from the Romanian ice hockey league.

International

For Romania , Elekes took part in the junior division of the U18 Junior B European Championship in 1990 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the C World Championships in 1997 , 1998 , 1999 , 2000 , 2001 and 2006 as well as the B World Championships in 1995 , 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 and 2007 and in qualifying for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .
