The International Ice Hockey Federation held the 67th Ice Hockey World Championships in 2003 .

The 67th Men's Ice Hockey World Championship 2003 took place at the following locations:

World Championship: April 26th to May 11th in Helsinki , Tampere and Turku ( Finland )
Division I, Group A: 15. bis 21st April in Budapest ( Hungary )
Division I, Group B: 14. bis 20th April in Zagreb ( Croatia )
Division II, Group A: April 5th to 11th in Seoul ( South Korea )
Division II, Group B: 24. bis the 30th March in Sofia ( Bulgaria )
Division III: 3. bis 6. April in Auckland ( New Zealand )

A total of 43 teams took part in these world championships.

The 8th Women's Ice Hockey World Championship 2003 was to take place as follows:

World Championship: April 3rd to 9th in Beijing ( People's Republic of China )
Division I: 9. bis 15. March in Ventspils ( Latvia )
Division II: March 31 to April 6 in Lecco ( Italy )
Division III: March 25th to 31st in Maribor ( Slovenia )

At the time the top division was held, the life-threatening pneumonia SARS had broken out in large parts of China . The World Ice Hockey Federation therefore decided to cancel the tournament. The tournaments of divisions I to III took place as planned.

The 27th U20 Junior World Championship was held this year in the following locations:

World Championship: December 26, 2002 to January 5, 2003 in Halifax and Sydney ( Canada )
Division I, Group A: December 27, 2002 to January 2, 2003 in Almaty ( Kazakhstan )
Division I, Group B: December 16, 2002 to December 22, 2002 in Bled ( Slovenia )
Division II, Group A: January 6 to 12, 2003 in Miercurea Ciuc ( Romania )
Division II, Group B: December 28, 2002 to January 3, 2003 in Novi Sad ( Serbia-Montenegro )
Division III: 21st bis 26. January 2003 in Izmit ( Turkey ).

A total of 39 teams again took part in these Junior World Championships.

The 5th U18 Junior World Championship took place this year at the following locations and times:

World Cup: 12. bis 22. April in Yaroslavl ( Russia )
Division I, Group A: 23. bis 29. March in Ventspils ( Latvia )
Division I, Group B: 22. bis 28. March in Briancon ( France )
Division II, Group A: 17th bis 23. March in Tallinn ( Estonia )
Division II, Group B: March 5th to 11th in Belgrade ( Yugoslavia )
Division III Group A: 5. bis 8. March in Mexico City ( Mexico )
Division III Group B: 6. bis 9. March in Sarajevo ( Bosnia-Herzegovina )

A total of 42 teams took part in these world championships.
