The Olympic ice hockey tournament of the Olympic Winter Games 1932 in Lake Placid ( USA ) was at the same time as the sixth IIHF - Ice Hockey World Championship . The tournament took place from February 4th to 13th, 1932. Only four teams took part because due to the global economic crisis the journey was too expensive for most of the European teams. The tournament was played in a double round due to the small number of participants in the league game. Canada won its third Olympic gold medal in ice hockey; However, the success has never been so difficult, the decisive game had to be extended three times. Canada won the Olympic gold medal for the fourth time in a row, and also won its sixth consecutive title and sixth overall.
