Hugh Sutherland
Hugh Robert Sutherland (born February 2, 1907 in Winnipeg , Manitoba , † September 9, 1990 ibid) was a Canadian ice hockey player . At the Olympic Winter Games in 1932 , he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.
Career
Hugh Sutherland began his career as a junior ice hockey player with the Millionaires, for which he was active from 1922 to 1927. He then ran for Winnipeg Grain Exchange in the senior sector, before joining the Winnipeg Hockey Club in 1929. In the 1930/31 season he won the Allan Cup , the Canadian amateur championship, with the Winnipeg Hockey Club . At the 1932 Winter Games, he represented Canada with the Winnipeg Hockey Club. Following the tournament, he played for three years for the Selkirk Fishermen and one year for the Winnipeg Brokers, before ending his career in 1937. In 2004 he was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame.
International
For Canada Sutherland took part in the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid , where he won the gold medal with his team.
