Two ice hockey competitions will be held at the XXIV Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022 . When men's tournament twelve teams compete, the women's tournament will be played with ten teams.

The participants in the tournaments are based on the status of the IIHF world rankings of the year 2019 for men and 2020 for women as well as the results of the qualifying tournaments for men and women . In addition, the People's Republic of China is the host for both tournaments.

Venues

The Beijing National Indoor Stadium and the Cadillac Arena (also Wukesong Indoor Stadium) serve as the venues for the ice hockey games . Both stadiums have 18,000 seats and were built for the 2008 Summer Olympics . The Cadillac Arena is the home arena of the Kunlun Red Star , the only Chinese team in the Russia- centric Continental Hockey League .
