Józef Stogowski

Józef Bronisław Stogowski (born November 27, 1899 in Poznan , † May 14, 1940 in Toruń ) was a Polish ice hockey goalkeeper .

Career

Józef Stogowski first joined the Polish Army at the age of 19, but left it in 1921 to work for an insurance company. As an ice hockey goalkeeper he was active in the Polish ice hockey league for TKS Toruń , Legia Warsaw and AZS Posen . His greatest success at club level was third place with TKS Toruń in the 1927/28 season . After him the ice hockey stadium in Toruń was named, which the official name TOR-TOR - Lodowisko im. Józefa Stogowskiego wears.

International

For the Polish national ice hockey team , Stogowski took part in the Winter Olympics in St. Moritz in 1928 , in Lake Placid in 1932 and in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1936 . At the European Championships in 1929 he won the silver medal with his country. He also received the silver medal in the European championship with Poland at the 1931 World Championship , when the European Championship was part of the World Cup. He played a total of 70 international matches from 1927 to 1938.
