Aleksander Kowalski (ice hockey player)
Aleksander Marek Kowalski (born October 7, 1902 in Warsaw , † April 3, 1940 in Katyn ) was a Polish ice hockey player .
Career
Aleksander Kowalski worked parallel to his career as a hockey player for the Polish Ministry of Railways and a city savings bank. With AZS Warsaw he won the Polish championship five times in a row between 1926 and 1931 . During the Second World War he served as a reservist with the rank of lieutenant in the Polish Army and was taken prisoner by the Soviets . On April 3, 1940, he was murdered by the NKVD in the course of the Katyn massacre .
International
For the Polish National Hockey Kowalski took part in the Olympic Winter Games in 1928 in St. Moritz and 1932 in Lake Placid part. He played a total of 31 international matches for Poland from 1926 to 1932.
