Erich Römer

Erich Römer (born June 2, 1894 in Berlin ; † March 26, 1987 ibid) was a German ice hockey player and coach who played for the Berlin ice skating club throughout his career and participated in a variety of tournaments with the German national team .

Career

Erich Römer played throughout his career as an ice hockey player at the Berlin Ice Skating Club , with which he won a total of eight German championship titles between 1928 and 1937 . He also looked after the club's team as a coach.

From 1924 he also played for the German national team and acted as their field captain, a kind of player- coach . In 1928 he took part in the Winter Olympics with the national team and retired with them after the preliminary round. Two years later, at the 1930 European Championships , he won the gold medal.

At the Olympic Winter Games in 1932 , the German team won the bronze medal. Römer acted as outside captain of the national team until 1934, during which time he completed 47 international matches in which he scored 6 goals.

In 1988 he was inducted into the German Hockey Hall of Fame .
