Stéphen Liégeard

Stéphen Liégeard (born March 29, 1830 in Dijon , † December 19, 1925 in Cannes ) was a French lawyer, politician and poet. He published the book La Côte d'Azur , which gave its name to what is now the Côte d'Azur region on the French Mediterranean coast.

biography

François Stéphène Émile Liégeard, the real name of Liégeard, was born on March 29, 1830 in his Burgundian parental home in Dijon . His parents were Jean-Baptiste Liégeard and Catherine Émilie Vallot. He lived for a long time in Brochon ( Gevrey-Chambertin ), where he had a château built in the middle of an extensive park in 1900. The building has been preserved to this day; a school under the name Lycée Stephen Liégeard has been operated as the main building (next to a functional building from the post-war period) since 1962 . The château has been a listed building since 1975. Stéphen Liégeard died on December 19, 1925 at the age of 95 in Cannes .
