The International Ice Hockey Federation hosted the 58th Ice Hockey World Championships in 1994 .

Men's

The 58th Ice Hockey World Championship took place at the following locations and dates:

A World Championship: April 25th to May 8th in Bolzano , Canazei and Milan ( Italy )
B World Cup: 7. April bis 17th April in Copenhagen ( Denmark )
C1 World Cup: 18th March bis 27. March in Poprad and Ves ( Slovakia )
C2 World Cup: 13. March bis 19th March in Barcelona ( Spain )

A total of 35 teams took part in these world championships, which meant a new record; there were also two other teams that failed in qualifying for the C2 group. Originally 36 teams were supposed to take part, but North Korea decided not to participate and was automatically relegated.

Women

A women's ice hockey world championship was held for the third time in 1994 . The World Cup tournament took place from April 11th to 17th in Lake Placid , USA .

Juniors

The 18th U20 Junior World Championships took place this year in the following locations:

Junior A World Championship: December 26, 1993 to January 4, 1994 in Frýdek-Místek ( Czech Republic )
Junior B World Championship: December 27, 1993 to January 5, 1994 in Bucharest ( Romania )
Junior C World Championship: December 30, 1993 to January 3, 1994 in Odense and Esbjerg ( Denmark )

The qualifying tournament for the C group was held from November 1st to 7th, 1993 in Nitra and Nové Zámky in Slovakia .
