history
The team that emerged from the former Yugoslav selection has been taking part in ice hockey world championships since 1993 . Up to and including 1998, the U20 national team covered the entire junior area at the World Championships, while the U19 national team took part in the Junior European Championships. Since the U18 World Championships were introduced in 1999 , the Slovenian U20 national team has only represented the U20 junior level at world championships.
At the Junior World Championship in 1995 , the promotion to the C group of the World Championships was achieved for the first time. After the conversion to the current division system, the jump to Division I followed in 2001 , where the team from the Balkans has played since then. In the title fights in 2003 , the Slovenes celebrated their best result in Division I to date with second place at the tournament in Bled , Germany. A success that they were able to repeat two years later in Narva, Estonia, and again in Bled in 2011 .
