The Norwegian U-20 ice hockey team represents the Hockey Association of Norway in Hockey in the U20 junior power level in international competitions. The Norwegian team has been taking part in world championships since 1979 and achieved their best result to date with sixth place in 1990. After relegation from the top division in 2014 , she plays in Division I.

history

Lars-Erik Spets , here in the game against Estonia, finished second with the Norwegian team in Division I of the 2004 U20 World Cup in Briançon .

The Norwegian U20 national ice hockey team was founded in the run-up to the 1979 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship . During her first World Cup participation, she was accepted into the A group instead of the last Switzerland from last year , but had to accept immediate relegation to the B group. Then the Scandinavians played mostly second class. Only from 1989 to 1991 were they able to establish themselves for three years in the upper house of junior hockey. During this time, with sixth place in 1990, the team's previous placement also fell. But then it took a decade and a half before the Northmen managed to return to the top division in 2006. But now, as in 2011 and 2014, the relegation did not succeed.

Up to and including 1998, the U20 national team covered the entire junior area at the World Championships, while the U19 national team took part in the Junior European Championships. Since the introduction of the U18 World Championships in 1999 , Norway's U20 national team has exclusively represented the U20 junior level at world championships.
