The Norges Ishockeyforbund (Norwegian Ice Hockey Federation) is the national ice hockey association of Norway based in the House of Sports (Idrettens Hus) at the Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo . The federation is one of the sports federations of the Norwegian Sports Federation and a full member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It is the umbrella organization of 90 ice hockey clubs and departments from nine regional associations, in which around 11,000 members are active (as of February 2010). The current president is Ole-Jacob Libæk.
history
The association was founded on September 18, 1934 and was incorporated into the International Ice Hockey Federation on January 20, 1935 .
The 1952 Olympic ice hockey tournament was held by the association in Oslo , which was also the 19th ice hockey world championship and 30th ice hockey European championship. The hosting of the Ice Hockey World Championships in 1958 and the World Championships for Men in 1999 were also organized by Norges Ishockeyforbund.
tasks
The association takes care of the games of the Norwegian national ice hockey team as well as the women's national team and the junior teams. The association also organizes games at club level, including in the GET-ligaen , the top professional league in Norwegian ice hockey .
