Ernst Wilhelm Richter
Ernst Wilhelm Richter (* 1802 in Langenau ; † August 12, 1874 in Dresden ) was a Saxon school director, cantor and writer.
Live and act
Richter was born in Langenau as the son of a mountain blacksmith. Between 1831 and 1870 he worked as a teacher in Hainichen , where he was initially appointed rector's substitute in 1831. From 1835 he was rector and organist of Gellert City; 1868 headmaster of the first community school in Hainichen. In addition to his professional activity, he wrote several books, primarily on the geography and history of Saxony, including the three-volume description of the Kingdom of Saxony published in 1846/52 . When he left school in 1870, he was awarded the Cross of Honor of the Albrecht Order .
On June 15, 1886, a bronze plaque with a portrait medallion designed by the Dresden artist Robert Henze was unveiled in his memory .
