Ice Hockey UK ( IHUK for short ; British Ice Hockey Association until 1999 ) is the national ice hockey association of the United Kingdom . The association was founded in 1914. However, representatives from Great Britain were already involved on November 9, 1908 as one of five founding members in the establishment of the International Ice Hockey Federation . That is why the British have been one of the founding members of the IIHF since then. As the British Ice Hockey Association , it was the umbrella organization for British ice hockey in 1913/14 and from 1923 until it was renamed Ice Hockey UK in 1999.

The association is responsible for the British national ice hockey team , which has participated in international tournaments since 1910 and became European champions in the same year and won Olympic gold in 1936 . Ice Hockey UK also organizes the British ice hockey leagues, especially the EIHL professional league .
