Danmarks Ishockey Union (DIU for short) is Denmark's national ice hockey federation based in Brøndby . It is the umbrella organization of 16 associations, in which on January 1, 2011 over 4,400 members were counted. The current president is Henrik Bach Nielsen.
history
Until it was founded on November 27, 1949, ice hockey was organized in a division of the Danish Ice Skating Union ( Dansk Skøjte Union ) . The new federation was immediately incorporated into the Danish Sports Federation and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). He is one of the IIHF full members.
In 2010 the two regional associations, the Jysk Ishockey Union ( Jutland ) from 1959 and the Sjællands Ishockey Union ( Zealand ) from 1962, were dissolved and their tasks were incorporated into the Danish Ice Hockey Federation.
tasks
The association mainly takes care of the implementation of the games of the Danish national ice hockey team as well as the women's national team and the junior teams. In addition, the association organizes the game operations of the club teams, especially in the professional AL-Bank Ligaen .
