Stephan Helmich

Stephan Helmich , also referred to in literature as Hellmich, Helwik, Helwek, Helwig and Hellig (* around 1734 in Zinnwald, Bohemia, today Cínovec , Czech Republic; † February 10, 1812 in Sankt Marx (Vienna)), was an Austrian piano player and organ builder. On February 6, 1779 he took the citizenship oath in Vienna ; he died penniless.

Helmich worked mainly for the Servite Order . It is proven that in 1777 he made an organ for the Servitenkirche in Vienna (today Roßau parish church), which was replaced by a new building in 1862. In 1778 he built an organ with 19 registers for the Servitenklosterkirche in Mariahilfberg near Gutenstein and in 1782 a 17-register organ for the Servitenklosterkirche in Maria Langegg , today part of the Bergern community in the Dunkelsteinerwald .
