Eesti Jäähoki Liit is the national ice hockey federation of Estonia based in Tallinn . The association has over 1077 players as members, including 124 men, 862 young people, 91 women and 44 referees who work in eleven ice rinks and on ten ice rinks (as of 2020). The current association president is Rauno Parras.

history

On February 17, 1935, the association joined the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF ; however, this membership expired in 1946 after the annexation by the Soviet Union . After the collapse of the Soviet Union , the Estonian Association was re-admitted to the IIHF in 1992.

The association is responsible for the Estonian national ice hockey team , which has been participating in international tournaments again since 1994 and is currently in Division I.

Between 2012 and 2020, the number of active players decreased from around 1500 to 1070.

National game operation

With the Meistriliiga , the Eesti Jäähoki Liit operates the highest ice hockey league in the country. Other divisions are the second-rate Esiliiga and the "Independent Ice Hockey League" (HHL). In this league, 21 amateur teams compete against each other in three groups.
