Ice rink
An ice rink is an indoor ice rink . As a rule, an ice rink, if it is operated all year round, is used by an ice skating or ice hockey club . In the rest of the off-peak season, ice rinks are open to the public and various events are held there.
Public ice rinks generally consist of the following room groups:
- An ice surface
- Adjoining rooms for the distribution of the skates
- Side rooms for technology ( cooling technology , ice preparation)
- Adjoining rooms for visitors such as toilets or catering facilities
- Adjoining rooms for the staff
A fee is normally charged for using the facilities. Furthermore, you can usually rent ice skates in ice rinks, although a rental fee is also charged for these .
The accident surrounding the collapse of the Bad Reichenhall ice skating and swimming pool hall on January 2, 2006 triggered a lively discussion about the safety of such hall structures.
