The games of the 17th Junior A World Championship in 1993 took place in Sweden from December 26, 1992 to January 4, 1993 . Group B was played in Lillehammer and Hamar , Norway , and Group C in Odense and Esbjerg , Denmark .
A total of 24 teams took part, but for the first time there was a qualifying tournament in the run-up to the World Championships, the winner of which qualified for the C-World Cup. There was a special feature at the A-WM; The championship started with a team from Czechoslovakia , which continued to play from January 1, 1993 due to the dissolution of this country as a unified selection of the newly founded states of the Czech Republic and Slovakia ( team of the Czech and Slovak Republic ). Furthermore, Russia took the starting position of the defending champions CIS, whose team had already largely consisted of Russian players when they won the World Cup. At the end of the tournament, Canada's U20 team became world champions for the sixth time.
A world championship
