Igor Murín (born March 1, 1973 in Trenčín , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak ice hockey goalkeeper who was active for many years for HC Dukla Trenčín in the Slovak extra league and HC Zlín in the Czech extra league.

Career

Murín began his career in his hometown with HC Dukla Trenčín , for whom he made his debut in the first division of Czechoslovakia in the 1991/92 season . At the end of the season he was able to celebrate the CSFR championship with his teammates . Two years later, Dukla won the first Slovak championship after the division of the league. Igor Murín established himself in the following years as one of the top goalkeepers in the Slovak extra league . 1997 Dukla again won the championship of Slovakia. In the 2000s Murín was then more and more ousted by the younger Miroslav Hála , so he played some games for Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the Russian Super League in the 2001/02 season . For the 2002/03 season he returned as number 1 to Trenčín, but decided a year later to move to the Czech Republic for HC Hamé Zlín .

In his first season in the Czech top division , he won the Czech championship with the team from Zlín and was one of the best goalkeepers of the season. In the following season, the HC Zlín reached the runner-up in the Czech Republic, but could not build on these successes in the following years.

In the middle of the 2008/09 season Murín moved back to Slovakia for HKm Zvolen before returning to his hometown club HC Dukla Trenčín in July 2009. From January 2011 he was goalkeeper at MsHK Žilina before ending his career after the 2011/12 season.

International

In addition to his successes at club level, Igor Murín was also used in international championships. With the junior selection of the ČSFR he took part in the U20 World Championships in 1992 and 1993 . He had other appearances in the Slovak national jersey at the World Cup in 1996 and 1999 , and he was the goalkeeper of the Slovaks at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano.
