Lars Weibel (born May 20, 1974 in Lachen SZ ) is a former Swiss ice hockey goalkeeper and current official.

Career

Lars Weibel began his career in 1989 at SC Rapperswil-Jona . The move to EHC Biel followed in 1992 . A year later, the goalkeeper signed with HC Lugano , where he stayed until 2001. The Swiss was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft , but was never signed by an NHL club.

Weibel became Swiss champions in 1999 with HC Lugano . From the 2000/01 season he played for HC Davos , where the goalkeeper was also one of the top performers. In 2000 and 2001 he won the prestigious Spengler Cup with HC Davos . In addition, Lars Weibel was elected to the all-star team of the tournament in 2000 and 2002. From the 2004/05 season he played for EV Zug . In 2009 the Swiss left the club and signed a contract for the 2009/10 season with the Kölner Haien from the German Ice Hockey League as the successor to Robert Müller, who died on May 21, 2009 . Weibel ended his active career in August 2010.

He is a regular studio guest at SRF Zwei during the NLA playoffs. Weibel, a trained structural draftsman with a commercial diploma, worked in the private sector until 2014, then took up a position at EV Zug in the sales and marketing department of EV Zug and took over the management of the junior academy in the same association in 2016, before he started in August 2019 worked for the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation as director for the national teams.
