The season 2001/02 was the 64th regular season of the National League A . The HC Davos was in play-off -Final against ZSC Lions Swiss champion . The HC Servette Genève was master of NLB (3: 2 playoff winner in the final against the HC La Chaux-de-Fonds ), rising by winning the relegation against EHC Chur in the NLA on.

mode

The 12 teams played 2 double rounds of 22 games each. Then the best eight teams determined the Swiss champions in play-off style. Quarter-finals , semi-finals and the final were each played according to the Best of Seven mode .

The last four teams determined in the play-outs (two rounds in the best of seven mode ) the team that had to play against the champions of National League B to stay in the league.
