The 1956/57 season was the 19th regular staging of the National League A , the highest Swiss league in ice hockey . For the seventh time in the club's history, the EHC Arosa became Swiss champions, while the Grasshopper Club was relegated to the NLB.

mode

As in the previous year, the league was played in a common main round. Each of the eight teams played back and forth against each group opponent, making the total number of games per team 14. The first in the table became Swiss champions, while the bottom of the table had to compete against the best second division team in the relegation to avoid relegation. Each team received two points for a win and one point for a tie. If you lost, you didn't get any points.

Relegation

The Grasshopper Club, which could not win any of its 14 season games in the main round, met the best second division Lausanne HC and defeated them clearly 3:11 in a high-scoring game, whereby the Grasshopper Club was relegated to the NLB and Lausanne HC Took place in the NLA.
