The 1958/59 season was the 21st regular staging of the National League A , the highest Swiss league in ice hockey . For the first time in the club's history, SC Bern became Swiss champions.

mode

As in the previous year, the league was played in a common main round. Each of the eight teams played back and forth against each group opponent, making the total number of games per team 14. The first in the table became Swiss champions, while the bottom of the table had to compete against the best second division team in the relegation to avoid relegation. Each team received two points for a win and one point for a tie. If you lost, you didn't get any points.

The EHC Arosa met the best second division club, HC La Chaux-de-Fonds, relegated from the previous year, and prevailed against them with 4: 2, whereby the EHC Arosa achieved relegation and the HC La Chaux-de-Fonds remained in the NLB .
