The 1951/52 season was the 14th regular staging of the National League A , the highest Swiss league in ice hockey . For the second time in its club history, the EHC Arosa became Swiss champions.
As in the previous year, the league was divided into two groups of four teams in the main round. Each of the teams played back and forth against each group opponent, making the total number of games per team six. The two best teams in each group then qualified for the final round, the winners of which became champions, while the other four teams competed against each other for the league and the last of the relegation round had to face the best second division team in the relegation. Each team received two points for a win and one point for a tie. If you lost, you didn't get any points.
The results from the main round between the two teams in a group that ran together in the final or relegation round were transferred to the final or relegation round.
The series champions of previous years, HC Davos, who had only won once in twelve games before, met the best second division club HC La Chaux-de-Fonds, who qualified for the relegation as in the previous year and took a clear 13th place : 3 through, with which the HCD could secure the league.
