The season 2005/06 was the 68th regular season of the National League A . The HC Lugano was in the play-off -Final against HC Davos Swiss champion . In the National League B , the EHC Biel was 'B-Champion' and fought in a duel with the NLA table bottom Friborg-Gottéron for promotion to the top division.

National League A

mode

The 12 teams played 2 double rounds of 22 games each. Then the best eight teams determined the Swiss champions in play-off style. Quarter-finals , semi-finals and the final were each played according to the best of seven mode .

The other four teams determined in the play-outs that team that had to play against the champions of National League B to stay in the league.
