The season 1990/91 was the 53rd regular season of National League A .

mode

The ten teams initially played two double rounds of 18 games each, in which the eight participants for the playoffs were determined. The last two teams in qualification compete in a relegation round over ten games against the four best-placed teams in National League B. The first two of the relegation round will play in the National League A next season.
