Martin Rauch (born June 15, 1965 in Bern ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player who played mainly for SC Bern in the National League A during his professional career and won the Swiss championship four times with the Berners .

Career

Acting on the position of defender, Martin Rauch played in his youth for the EHC Rot-Blau Bern-Bümpliz in the west of Bern , before he was active in the National League B for SC Bern from 1982 . In the fourth NLB season, promotion to the National League A was achieved at the green table . Rauch, who had quickly established himself as a regular player, won his first Swiss championship with the Stadtberner Club in the 1988/89 season under head coach Bill Gilligan . This was followed by title wins in 1991 , 1992 and 1997 .

After 18 years in the dress of SC Bern, the left shooter left the Bernese and moved to Friborg-Gottéron , for which he played two seasons. It was followed by two more seasons in the top division in Leventine club HC Ambri-Piotta , before the lockout - 2004/05 season when NLB -Club EHC Biel spent. In the National League B, Rauch also played for EHC Olten and HC Ajoie before ending his professional career in 2011. With 1310 games in the NLA and NLB, he is the record player, and was also the oldest player at 45 years in the NLB. In September 2011 he continued his career as an amateur player with his youth club EHC Rot-Blau Bern-Bümpliz in the 2nd division . In 2015 Rauch ended his active career.

The shirt number 7 of the long-time SCB defender was blocked by the club and hung under the roof of the PostFinance Arena .

International

Rauch played a total of 116 international matches for Switzerland and represented his home country at several world championships, where he was also temporarily the team captain of the Eisgenossen .
