The 1963/64 season was the 26th regular staging of the National League A , the highest Swiss league in ice hockey . For the second time in the club's history, HC Villars became Swiss champions, while HC Ambrì-Piotta was relegated to the NLB.

In a common main round, each of the ten teams played in a return match against each group opponent, making the total number of games per team 18. The first in the table became Swiss champions, while the bottom of the table was relegated directly to the second division. Each team received two points for a win and one point for a tie. If you lost, you didn't get any points.
