The 1953/54 season was the 16th regular staging of the National League A , the highest Swiss league in ice hockey . For the fourth time in the club's history, EHC Arosa became Swiss champions, while Lausanne HC was relegated to NLB.

mode

As in the previous year, the league was played in a common main round. Each of the eight teams played back and forth against each group opponent, making the total number of games per team 14. The first in the table became Swiss champions, while the bottom of the table had to compete against the best second division team in the relegation to avoid relegation. Each team received two points for a win and one point for a tie. If you lost, you didn't get any points.

Relegation

Lausanne HC, which could only win one of its 14 games in the main round and had a goal difference of −85, met the best second division club EHC St. Moritz and was clearly defeated 4: 9 so that Lausanne HC was relegated to the NLB and the EHC St. Moritz took its place in the NLA.
