Fritz Naef (born June 5, 1934 ; † July 27, 2014 ) was a Swiss ice hockey player who was one of the best strikers in National League A in the late 1950s and 1960s and who played with the Swiss national team at the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d ' Ampezzo participated.

Career

Naef began his career at HC Davos , for whom he played in the National League A between 1949 and 1954 and became Swiss champion in 1950 at the age of 16 . He was then active at Lausanne HC until the end of the 1959/60 season , with whom he rose to the NLA in 1957.

Between 1960 and 1969 he played for HC Servette , with whom he was promoted to the National League A in 1964. With Lausanne and Servette, he was the top scorer in the National League six times - in 1959, 1960 and from 1965 to 1968. Naef also holds the record for the most goals in a game - on January 21, 1967, he scored eight goals in a 12-3 win of Servette against the Neuchâtel Young Sprinters HC . He played his last game on February 15, 1969 against HC La Chaux-de-Fonds , which Servette defeated 7-3.

Fritz Naef was called “Nasli” because he suffered six nasal fractures in the course of his career. After retiring from active sport, he worked as a chauffeur for a limousine service. On September 25, 2004, his number 6 was blocked by Servette. Naef died in July 2014 at the age of 80.

International

Naef took part in a total of four world championships (1955, 1956, 1961 and 1962) and the 1956 Winter Olympics.

Naef played a total of 51 international matches for the national team, scoring 52 goals.
