Otto Bonhoff (born February 21, 1931 in Leipzig ; † January 7, 2001 ) was a German writer .

Life

Bonhoff was born the son of a theologian . After the end of the war he worked in an amateur play group of the anti-fascist youth . With a scholarship from the FDJ Bonhoff came to the Leipzig University of Music and was able to study drama there. A first engagement took place at the former Borna District Theater , which brought Bonhoff to the realization that the stage could not be his future.

He took up journalism training and became a volunteer for Thuringian Latest News . In addition, he took on other reporting tasks for other editorial offices. Bonhoff went from daily journalism to literary and dramaturgical work. "It attracted me to think beyond the authentic case, the concrete person and his situation, to package actual events in game actions."

In the field of tension literature with an authentic background, he finally found his decisive field of activity. Bonhoff became a freelance writer and from 1961 wrote short stories, novels, radio plays and television films. Books and films that he wrote with the like-minded author Herbert Schauer are particularly popular .

Otto Bonhoff was born with the director Ursula Bonhoff . Obuch married. After a long and serious illness, he died shortly before his 70th birthday on January 7, 2001.
