Mike Maneluk (born October 1, 1973 in Winnipeg , Manitoba ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who, during his active career, played for the Philadelphia Flyers , Chicago Blackhawks , New York Rangers and Columbus Blue Jackets in the National Hockey League as well as for the HC Lugano , EV train , EHC Basel , HC Davos and HC Ambri-Piotta in the Swiss National League A was active.

Career

Mike Maneluk began his career as a hockey player with the Brandon Wheat Kings , for which he was active from 1991 to 1994 in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League . He then spent a year with the Canadian national team , with whom he prepared for the 1995 World Cup . Across the seasons he came in the seasons 1993/94 and 1994/95 also on eleven missions for the San Diego Gulls from the International Hockey League . From 1995 to 1997, the attacker played for one year each for the Baltimore Bandits and Worcester IceCats in the American Hockey League before moving to the Philadelphia Flyers from the National Hockey League , with their AHL farm team Philadelphia, at the beginning of the 1997/98 season Phantoms he won the Calder Cup in 1998. He also received the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as the best playoff player in the league. In the 1998/99 season he played on three different NHL teams when the former international was on the ice for both the Philadelphia Flyers and their league rivals Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers .

The 1999/2000 season spent Maneluk again in Philadelphia, where he only played once for the NHL team of the Flyers and the rest of the season for the Phantoms in the AHL was on the hunt for goals. After a year with the newly founded Columbus Blue Jackets and their IHL farm team Chicago Wolves , the right -handed shooter went to Europe for the first time, where he was active for HC Lugano from the Swiss National League A from 2001 to 2005 . With Lugano he won the Swiss championship for the first and only time in his career in the 2002/03 season . With ten goals in the playoffs, he played a key role in the success. In the following season, the Canadian even received the award of best goalscorer in the main round as well as the playoffs when he scored 30 and ten goals respectively for Lugano.

From 2005 to 2008 Maneluk was one after the other with EV Zug , EHC Basel and HC Davos in the NLA. At the beginning of the 2008/09 season he received a contract with HK Dinamo Minsk from the Continental Hockey League , for which he remained goalless in seven games before his contract with the Belarusians was dissolved. The season he finally finished with his former club HC Lugano in the NLA, and the SC Langenthal in the National League B . In the NLB, the winger then stayed in the 2009/10 season, for which he signed with Lausanne HC .

International

For Canada Maneluk took part in the 1995 World Cup, where he finished third with his team.
