Piazza del Quirinale
The Piazza del Quirinale (Eng .: Quirinalsplatz ) is a large square on the Quirinal in the center of the Italian capital Rome ( Trevi district ).
The square is framed by several buildings: The Quirinal Palace (north side), the official seat of the President of the Italian Republic, previously the residence of the King of Italy, the Palazzo della Consulta (east side), seat of the Constitutional Court, and the Scuderie del Quirinale (south-west side), the former stables used for exhibitions.
In the square is the Dioskurenbrunnen (Fontana dei Dioscuri) with an ancient obelisk ( Obelisco del Quirinale ) . To the west of the square is a viewing terrace that offers a view of part of Rome.
The steep street Via della Dataria begins to the northwest ; from there the Via delle Vergini leads to the Trevi Fountain (approx. 150 meters in total). To the northeast, Via del Quirinale begins at the Piazza del Quirinale, which becomes the extension of Via del XX. Settembre means; it ends in the Piazza di San Bernardo . To the south, Via 24 Maggio leads to Largo Magnanapoli . The small street Salita di Montecavallo surrounds the square to the southwest; it starts at via 24 Maggio and turns to the square on via della Dataria at the wide staircase .
