Adrian Wichser (born March 18, 1980 in Winterthur ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player . He was a professional ice hockey player for 21 years, was under contract with several National League A clubs , won the Swiss championship twice and was top scorer. In 2009 Wichser won the Champions Hockey League with Zurich. He played 99 senior international games, took part in the 2006 Olympic Games and five world championships.

Career

Adrian Wichser began his career as an ice hockey player at EHC Winterthur , in whose youth he was active until 1997. He then received a contract with the Kloten Flyers , for which he was on the ice in the National League A for the next five years . During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1998 in the ninth round as a total of 231st player by the Florida Panthers , for which he however never played. In the summer of 2002 Wichser moved to HC Lugano , with whom he became Swiss champions for the first time in his career in the 2002/03 season . He was also the national league's top scorer with 26 goals this season. After three years, the Center left Lugano to sign with their league rivals, the ZSC Lions , with whom he again became Swiss champions in 2008. In addition, he won the Champions Hockey League , which was held for the first time with the Lions in the 2008/09 season , in which he was the best assists and together with Jean-Guy Trudel the player with the most scorer points.

In the last years of his career Wichser played for Hockey Thurgau (2014-2016) and EHC Winterthur (2016-2018) in the National League B for two years . In April 2018 he announced the end of his playing career and worked at an art and sports school and as a technology trainer in the youth movement of the EHC Winterthur.

International

For Switzerland Wichser took part in the U20 Junior World Championships in 1998 , 1999 and 2000 , as well as the A World Championships in 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 and 2007 . He was also part of the Swiss squad for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin . He played a total of 99 full internationals for the national team in his home country.
