Björn Schneider (born January 24, 1973 in Diessbach near Büren ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player .

Player career

Schneider began his career in 1989 with EHC Biel from the National League A , for which he played until relegation in 1995. He then moved to league rivals Kloten Flyers , with whom he became Swiss champions twice in a row . A guest appearance at SC Bern was followed by a move to HC Sierre-Anniviers in 1999 , for which he only played four games. In the same year, the defender went back to EHC Biel and completed the playoffs for National League A with the club. He stayed there until the 2002/03 season before he was committed by HC Friborg-Gottéron . After six games with the French-speaking Switzerland, he was transferred to SC Langenthal , where he finally ended his career in 2004 due to an injury.

International

Schneider was a member of the Swiss junior national team at the European championships in 1990 and 1991. With the Swiss national ice hockey team he played at the world championships in 1991, 1992 and 1993. In total, he made seven international appearances.

Coaching career

After the end of his sporting career, Schneider has been coach of the second division club EHC Meinisberg since the 2005/06 season .
