Diessbach bei Büren is a municipality in the Seeland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .

geography

Diessbach borders on Schnottwil , Wengi , Grossaffoltern , Lyss , Büetigen , Dotzigen , Büren an der Aare . It is in Zealand .

history

One of the oldest inhabitants of Diessbach would have to be the early people of the Bronze Age . The finds in various parts of Diessbach mainly include graves and the remains of settlements. There are also finds from the time of the Roman Empire .

At the end of the High Middle Ages, in 1244, Diessbach is first mentioned as Diespah . At that time the settlement consisted of a few farms. The church, in which previous buildings can be traced back to the seventh century, is also described in 1244.

As part of the rulership of Strassberg from the Counts of Strassberg , Diessbach came to Bern in 1393 and thus became part of the Büren District , which became the Oberamt in 1803.

Diessbach is German-speaking (97.33%). Some residents speak French (1.04%) and Albanian (0.58%).

Diessbach has a reformed church, resp. a reformed parish . Busswil, Büetigen and Dotzigen also belong to this group.

In addition to the residents' community, Diessbach also has a civic community with the Baumgartner, Eggli, Furer, Furrer, Häni, Hullin, Kessler, Klötzli, Moser, Moy, Rufer, Schaller, Schlup, Schmid, Schneider, Schnyder, Scholl, Studer and Zingg families. The citizens own 2.85 km² of land. There are two parties in the village: A section of the SP and the IG Diessbach.

In Diessbach, the municipal assembly forms the legislature. The municipal council consists of five members. The community president is Michael Burri (as of 2020).

The voting shares of the parties in the 2019 National Council election were: SVP 44.2%, SP 11.9%, BDP 10.9%, FDP 5.3%, EPP 7.1%, GPS 8.6%, glp 6.4 %, EDU 0.9%.

These are the roller hockey club (RHC Diessbach), the football club (FC Diessbach), the Hornussergesellschaft (HG Diessbach), the shooting society, the group for village and local history, the "Sunneschyn" handharmonica club, the yodelling club, the rural women’s club, the Landjugi Seeland and the male choir.
