Kallnach ( French Chouchignies ) is a municipality in the Seeland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland . It merged with Golaten on January 1, 2019 to form the new municipality of Kallnach.
geography
Kallnach is considered the longest street village in Switzerland. It extends at the foot of a moraine of the Rhone Glacier on the edge of the Grosse Moos and lies on the road from Lyss via Aarberg to Kerzers . The place has a train station on the Broyelinie (Lyss-Aarberg-Kerzers route).
The neighboring communities are in alphabetical order: Bargen , Finsterhennen , Fräschels FR , Golaten, Kerzers FR , Radelfingen , Siselen and Treiten .
history
Remains of a Roman road connecting the settlements of Aventicum and Petinesca have been found in the Aspi . Excavations in 1989 brought to light structures that can be interpreted as a Roman rest stop, customs post or horse changing station. Even in the early Middle Ages, during the 7th century, Romanen lived in the area of today's Kallnach, which could be determined on the basis of found objects and grave attachments. During the First World War , the village was accidentally hit by French bombs, but there was no personal injury and very little material damage.
Local nobility
Kallnach had, at least temporarily, its own local nobility. For example, a knight Berthold von Kallnach appears in a document between 1255 and 1265. This noble family reappeared in 1363 when Christina von Kallnach and her husband Heinrich von Schünen donated an annual interest of 3 shillings to the Dominican monastery in Bern from half a farm in Bern in Herrengasse. Income from the second half of this farmstead was donated a year earlier by Albrecht Schäfers and his wife for the salvation of souls, which could indicate a possible relationship between the two families.
politics
The voting shares of the parties in the 2019 National Council election were: SVP 41.2%, BDP 13.2%, SP 10.7%, FDP 6.0%, EDU 3.8%, glp 7.3%, GPS 9.1 %, EVP 2.5%.
